Too Many Layers (or what happens when I get carried away!)

I was sat looking at my pretties last week, as I sometimes do just because I am a bit of a Magpie and like to look at shiny things.  I was wondering what to do with my nails (before I did the butterfly wings mani), which colour to paint them, glitter, flaky, nail art?  So many choices, and too much free time at that moment, so I grabbed some shiny, sparkly and lovely polishes, all gorgeous in their own right, and I tried ALL of them!  BIG mistake, I do love playing with layering, and experimenting with which polish goes with which colour but I really did get carried away with this one.

The polishes I used were OPI Thanks so Muchness, NFU Oh 51, Kleancolor Chunky Holo Fuschia and Urban Decay Burnout.  The final colour was lovely and as a result I now know how to create this without using the 10 layers that just wouldn't dry!  I only used four colours, but kept layering, until there was so much polish on, no wonder it wouldn't dry.  I went to bed with this lot on, and I could still leave an indent with my nail in the morning, so off it came.  I actually scraped it off as it was still tacky and just removed the residue with remover, so at least removal wasn't bad.

I started with my base coat, then 2 layers of the OPI, then a layer of Kleancolor, then 2 layers of Urban Decay, then another layer of Kleancolor, then NFU Oh 51, then another Kleancolor, then a shiny top coat.  10 layers in total, ridiculous!

The final result was extremely hard to capture, but believe me when I say it was spectacular, and was worth the 5 pics.  In the sunshine shots outdoors my camera was having a meltdown it was so shiny and sparkly.  It had it all going on, multichrome colour flashes, sparkle, glitter, flakes and a deep richness of colour, I will be doing a more sensible version of this soon, and when I do, I will of course share it with you all :)

Here are the pics, and please forgive the application of polish, this was pre clean-up, and since I removed it all anyway, there were no post clean-up pics!  Pics as usual are clickable for more close up detail.

Monday Mani - Floral Design over NFU Oh 51

Well its Monday, and the Polish-aholics Anonymous group on facebook (you should really join if you're not already in it, its a great group) came up with the idea of Mani Mondays.  Every Monday we all do our nails in the same theme which is voted by the group, and this Monday its theme is floral.  I already had NFU Oh 51 on (thats a post of its own later) and I didn't want to take it off, so I thought what can I do!  I went through my box of foils and transfers and miscellaneous nail things and found I had these lovely gold rose water slide decals.  Does gold go with purple flakies, course it does!  I hope you like it :)

NFU Oh - Oh no, not if you live in the UK (no pics just a rant!)

OK, I have been looking for flakies, I love them, want them, neeeeeeeeed them after seeing so many lovely swatches.  I have a particular lust for NFU Oh ones, specifically no's 51 & 52 (oh and 49) and some others, you get my drift anyway.  Here there is one HUGE problem, I live in the UK (how bloody dare I!)

Oh how I want NFU Oh, but the USA store which sells it won't ship to the UK as we already have a supplier, conflict of business interests and all that, and fair enough.  Therein though lies a small problem, (well actually the HUGE problem mentioned).  The UK supplier doesn't have hardly anything apart from standard nail polish, but even worse than this, if you are just a normal buyer, not a business or salon for example, then I was told in an email by them that they DOUBLE the price. What a rip off! Completely!  I've heard of supply and demand, but in this case its 'we are the only ones who can supply, so we can demand whatever price we want'.  I wish I was joking, I really do, but here is the email, word for word, copied and pasted from my inbox.

"Hi Michelle

Our site is for trade only as we only sell to professionals. You must prove to be a trained Beauty Therapist or nail technician to purchase. We shall be offering retail prices soon to members of the public (for selected lines). However in the mean time if you wish to purchase at retail price it is double the price of the trade price for polishes.

Hope this helps"

Hope this helps!  I could feel a vein at my temple throbbing!  Now I'm not going to name this company, as I sure as hell aren't going to give them free advertising (I know I kind of have in a way but pah), but its easy to find them.  I just thought I needed to vent my frustration, and I'm sure there are lots of UK polish obsessed people feel the same way.  And.....breathe!
